Chapter1: Student vs Teacher

The biggest tournament in ONM of the year was about to begin, 64 combatants got ready, 64 people with the same goal, to win it, and become ONM's Champion of 2009. With Havak entering however everyone was expecting him to win it for the 5th time.

The matchups had been drawn, i would be playing nintendoholic, my student in the ONM pokemon College, and perhaps my best student, i taught him everything i knew. Everyone was eagerly anticipating this match with the predictions to win being approximatly equal. Other big matchups of the round were Skynet v OmegaPit and Sharktamer v Elegy.

As much as everyone was expecting a close game, i was expecting a fairly easy win, i taught him, i knew most of his team, i knew what to expect from him. How wrong was I going to be?

This battle was thought using the standard tournament rules.

In my warstories i will be using a control score out of 5 to indicate who i thought was
in control of the match and how much by. This battle was done on wifi, but i did my best to simulate the shoddy battle log.

I was using my tenth team: 'Team X':
Uxie
Bronzong
Tyranitar
Gyarados
Magnezone
Kingdra

Holic was using:
Swampert
Frosslass
Dusknoir
Jirachi
Togekiss
Tentacruel

The battle began.
Holic sent out Swampert
tblakey89 sent out Uxie
Uxie uses reflect
Swampert uses stealthrock
Control: 0

At this point i proceeded to set up screens in order to help another one of my pokemon
set up, while holic sent out his fave lead, and set up SR. As control goes, no lead brings no immediate control to the game by matchup or anything

Uxie uses Stealth Rock
Swampert uses roar
tblakey89 sends out Bronzong
Control: Holic 1

At this point i thought there is nothing holic can do to me with pert, it is best to use SR now and save lightscreen for next turn, holic however surprised me with a roar. And bronzong was sent out which was the last mon i wanted to see, however at least it gave me a chance to set up some screens

Bronzong uses light screen
Holic withdraws Swampert and sends out Dusknoir
Control: Holic 1

As bronzong was out i thought i might as well finish screening up. He however then sends out dusknoir, as i knew his dusknoir, i knew to expect a tricked choice band coming my way, so i knew to switch out to a pokemon which could find it useful, however i was also expecting a potential will-o-wisp, so i made my decision on those two factors

tblakey89 withdraws bronzong and sends out kingdra
Dusknoir uses trick, kingdra recieves choice band, dusknoir receives chesto berry
Control: Holic 2

I chose kingdra to take the move, and it was trick, holic was in control however as he could switch to any pokemon now to avoid a potential outrage, or he could will-o-wisp my banded kingdra making it 100% useless.

Kingdra uses Outrage
Dusknoir is in the yellow (c20%)
Dusknoir uses will-o-wisp, it misses
Control: Holic 2

Phew... Dusknoir missed, kingdra is now capable of finishing off dusknoir, however holic could still switch to a steel or rock, and i was trapped on outrage. Outrage was the best move for me at the time as i reckoned it was the only one i had that could do most damage to the most pokemom, however it did leave me stuck on the move for another 1-2turns.

Holic withdraws Dusknoir and sends out Jirachi
Kingdra uses Outrage
Jirachi is still in the green (c70%) and then leftovers
Control: Holic: 2

Kingdra is now trapped for another turn, a situation where i didn't want a third outrage :p. Jirachi coud now wish to heal dusknoir, but i had no choice but to outrage again. And hope rachi wouldn't start setting up

Kingdra uses Outrage
Jirachi is in the yellow (c45%)
Jirachi uses wish
Kingdra is now confused
Control: tblakey89 1

Jirachi may have used wish, but because it was in the yellow i was expecting it would take the wish for itself, so i reckoned it was the perfect time to trap rachi and get the first KO of the match.

tblakey89 withdraws kingdra and sends out Magnezone
Rachi uses body slam, magnezone is 234/265
Rachi's wish comes true (100%)
Control: tblakey89 1

Not much to say, time to use a thunderbolt, but rachi could still u-turn away to pert, but he may not know u-turn, so the control is not clear at this point

Magnzone uses thunderbolt
It is a critical hit
Rachi is in the red (c10%)
Rachi uses u-turn, magnezone is 209/265
Rachi switches to Swampert
Reflect wears off
Control: Holic 1

It seems lady luck was on my side :p, i knew that would be really useful for later on. I may have just put his rachi in the red, and technically be on top of the game, but that switch still puts Holic in control of the match as now i was forced to switch.

tblakey89 withdraws magnezone, and sends out uxie
Swampert uses roar
Kingdra is sent out
Control: tblakey89 2

I was hoping to set up some screens, however, that roar was really useful, as i now have a banded kingdra, with no pokemon but that annoying swampert to stop it, and that swampert would rly get hurt by an outrage, the match was turning my way.

Kingdra uses Outrage
Swampert is in the yellow (c40%)
Swampert uses Earthquake
Kingdra is 73/277
Swampert gets leftovers (c52%)
Lightscreen wears off
Control: 0

The outrage did less than i was expecting, but there was still a possibilty of a KO. However if swampert was not KOed than kingdra was going down, and i would be losing, not a bad position to be in as i could easily revenge kill with another mon, but still, i would rather swampert be gone.

Kingdra uses Outrage
Swampert is in the red (c1%)
Swampert uses Earthquake
Kingdra is KOed
Swampert gets leftovers (c7%)
Control: Holic 1

I would now have to send in a pokemon to revenge kill swampert, which would mean holic would then get a free switch of his choice into that pokemon, keeping the game under his control. Still i was not in that much of a bad position. Easily fixable :D, and now holic had 3 pokemon in the red/yellow, while all my remaining were in the green.

tblakey89 sends out magnezone
holic withdraws swampert and sends out tentacruel
Magnezone used flash cannon
Tentacruel is in the green (80%)
Tentacruel gets leftovers
Control: Holic 1

An interesting move by holic as now he has a nearly KOed pert, and his tentacreul received some damage, though not much. A similar outcome could have occured if pert was KO-ed and then cruel was sent out, but i suppose pert could now be used as death fodder. Holic must have worked out when magnezone was against rachi that it held a scarf.

tblakey89 withdraws magnezone, and switches in Uxie
Tentacruel rapid spins the stealth rock away
Control: 0

I send in uxie to screen up, his cruel rapid spins up, no real advantage to anyone here.

Tentacruel uses knock off, Uxie's lightclay is knocked off
Uxie uses reflect
Control: 0

Without lightclay my uxie is fairly useless as it knows few attacking moves, so Holic as half wasted one of my pokemon.

Tentacruel sets up toxic spikes
Uxie uses Light Screen
Control: 0

I decide to continue screening up, as a 5 turn screen may still be useful. Toxic spikes aren't that bad to this team, due to the more levitating and flying nature of my remaining pokes.

Holic withdraws Tentacruel and sends out Dusknoir
Uxie U-turns away to Tyranitar
Tyranitar is poisoned
Sandstorm is now in effect
Control: tblakey89 3

Uxie's u-turn was really useful here, there is not much i am expecting from this dusknoir that can rly hurt ttar, so it looks like a free dragon dance for me, and time to get my team off the ground and start sweeping holic. Thanks to poison, ttar is safe from will-o-wisp

Tyranitar uses dragon dance
Dusknoir uses Brick break
The screens are shattered
Tyranitar is in the red with 13/331
Tyranitar faints due to poison
Control: tblakey89 1

That brick break caught me by surprise, that rly hurt my team, i had visions of being knocked out first round. Now i was starting to get in trouble, i was 6-4 down, at least i could send in another pokemon to revenge kill Dusknoir, but losing ttar hurts, as i was now down 2 sweepers, i had only magnezone, my revenge killer, gyarados, my final sweeper, and zong and uxie my two screeners left, my options were running out fast. Dusknoir was finished however, it couldn't surive another SR, and now i knew its moveset i knew it had no way of recovering, however i couldn't set up gyarados due to a will-o-wisp, it seemed zone was my only option.

tblakey89 sends in Magnezone
Magnezone uses thunderbolt
Dusknoir is KOed
Control: Holic 1

The score is 5-4, not so bad but still i was on the losing side. Holic now had a free choice of mon to send in, as he knew i was stuck on thunderbolt.

Holic sent out swampert
tblakey89 withdraws Magnezone and sends out Uxie
Swampert uses roar
Uxie is sent out, Gyarados is dragged in
Gyarados is at 246/328 due to Stealth rock
Control: Holic 2

Gyarados could now finish off swampert with waterfall, but still once that occurs then holic could then send out a mon to revenge kill gyarados, meaning i will have to switch again, meaning even more SR damage for my final sweeper, that would not be good.

Holic withdraws Swampert and sends out Jirachi
Gyarados uses waterfall
Jirachi is KOed
Control: Holic 2

It seemed as though Holic really loves his swampert :p. I was hoping to KO it, but then at this point i doubt it could be of much use, but then i thought that before, the score is now 4-4. The score may now be even but i didn't know 2 of Holic's mon, he knew all mine, and he had the choice of mon, he was still in control.

Holic sends in Froslass
tblakey89 withdraws gyarados and sends out bronzong
Froslass uses substitute
Control: tblakey89 1

Bronzong should be able to handle Froslass just fine, hopefully putting me in the winning position i thought. The game was turning around, it no longer looked abysmal for me, i had a fighting chance.

The next 8 turns is a stall between bronzong and froslass, but bronzong eventually wins

Froslass laid two layers of spikes
Bronzong currently has light screen up
Bronzong is on 244/338
Bronzong is currently confused
Control: tblakey89 1

I was very surprised Holic did not attack with shadow ball or something, especially as i had no more pokemon left in my team affected by spikes (EDIT: i forgot magnezone) and he could have worked that out. I now however had the chance to KO another 2 pokemon with magnezone's and bronzong's explosion, holic had 3 pokemon left and one of those was in the red. I had gained the upper hand.

Holic sent out Togekiss
Togekiss uses flamethrower
Bronzong is on 130/338
Bronzong is confused, but it uses explosion
Togekiss and Bronzong faint
Control: tblakey89 3

Looking back at this turn, if bronzong hit itself with confusion it would have been game over for me, i was not expecting flamethrower, i was expecting aura sphere, this was a very important turn in the sense that it probably decided the match. I took a few deep breaths and came up with a plan for the rest of the game, there was two possibilties of my next move, and i could win one way 100% and the other 80%. I had a plan for each outcome.

tblakey89 sent out magnezone
Holic sent out tentacruel
Holic withdraws tentacruel and sends out Swampert
Magnezone exlpodes
Magnezone and swampert faint
Light Screen wore off
Control: tblakey89 4

That swampert really did a lot of damage to my team, it looked like i had to follow option 2 of my plan. I did not want to take the chance of predicting what holic would do, so i deceided not to use tbolt or flash cannon and go for the explosion. If tentacruel stayed in, then score, gg holic. If not then i have only one pokemon to deal with and one i am very certain i can handle.

tblakey89 sends out Uxie
Holic sends out Tentacruel
Tentacruel uses surf
Uxie has 81/354
Uxie uses light screen
Control: tblakey89 4

I needed to set up light screen to protect my gyarados as much as possible from tentacruel's attacks. My plan now involved gyarados KOing Uxie as fast as possible before the screens wore off, fourtunatly the sandstorm was helping with that.

Tentacruel uses Knock Off
Uxie is on 43/354
Uxie uses reflect
Control: tblakey89 4

I would have preffered tentacruel to use surf, but still, uxie was approching KO, after the SS damage it couldn't survive another turn

Tentacruel uses surf
Uxie is KOed

Finally time to send in gyarados and hope my plan works

tblakey89 sends out gyarados
Gyarados uses substitute
Holic uses knock off
Control: tblakey89 4

With the substitute and screens i can now safely set up, unfourtunatly, gyarados does not know earthquake, but bounce should do the damade after dragon dance. The knock off hit would have lost me the game if gyarados was slower than tentacruel

Gyarados uses dragon dance
Tentacruel uses surf
The sub is not destroyed
Light screen wore off
Control: tblakey89 5

A sub and a DD, i am confident i have won this now, there is nothing much holic can do

Gyarados bounces up
Tentacruel uses surf
It misses
Reflect wears off
Gyarados uses Bounce
Tentacruel is in the red (c10%) and it is paralysed
Tentacruel is paralysed, it is unable to move
Control: tblakey89 5

GG Holic

Gyarados uses waterfall
Tentacruel is KOed
tblakey89 wins!!!

That was a close game, i realise i probably didn't deserve to win that, but lady luck gave a second chance, and i was determined not to let the chance go away, i was going to redesign my team, and hopefully meet or beat my previous record of losing in round 3 in ONM6, where i lost to Kinneas. My next oppenent was to be teatoo, and i was going to be ready for him with my new team, Team XI.

The next chapter should be up tommorow, feel free to post in between :p. And if you have any constructive critism please don't be shy.

Chapter2: The Battle of the Ts

I had scaped through to the second round of ONM7, and Teatoo was my oppenent. i had just finished Team XI and i was ready to put it to the test, as teams go my eleventh team was very similar to my tenth, and as time went on it became more and more similar.

Round 1 had seen some notable knock outs, such as that of Omega Pit, Neavel and also the dropout of havak, which made it hard to predict who was going to win ONM7. Notable matches in this round included Sharktamer vs Diddey, Dark Hunter vs Nbz and Maxz vs Nachos.

I was predicted to win this match, but after the previous match i was far more cautious.

My team:
Latias
Bronzong
Magnezone
Kingdra
Salamence
Jirachi

Teatoo's team:
Yanmega
Swampert
Aerodactyl
Forretress
Lanturn
Espeon

The battle began
Teatoo sent out Yanmega
tblakey89 sent out Latias
Latias used lightscreen
Yanmega used bug buzz
Latias is on 218/364
Latias gets leftovers
Yanmega gets speed boost
Control: Teatoo 1

Damn, i brought the wrong item to the battle, latias was supposed to be carrying light clay :S. Teatoo has the matchup advvantage, hence the control point. Light screen would be able to keep latias alright longer, but without light clay it is half useless, especially with no attacking moves.

tblakey89 withdraws latias and sends in bronzong
Yanmega uses bug buzz
Bronzong is on 265/338
Yanmega gets speed boost
Control: tblakey89 2

At least bronzong had the right item, now with bronzong out, it is able to ohko Yanmega with gyro ball, and then screen up after, possibly exploding, therefore taking out 2 pokemon, looking good so far.

Yanmega used Hidden Power
Ground moves have no effect on Bronzong
Bronzong uses gyro ball
Yanmega is on the yellow (25%)
Yanmega gets a speed boost
Control: tblakey89 2

:s. Okay i was wrong about the ohko, but at least it made no difference as teatoo effectivly wasted a move. I am in the same position as last turn except it will KO yanmaga this time.

Yanmega uses Bug buzz
Bronzong is on 195/338
Bronzong uses gyro ball
Yanmega is KOed
Control: tblakey89 2

Time to finish screening and explode :D.

Teatoo sent out Aerodactyl
Aerodactyl uses stone edge
Bronzing is on 102/338
Bonzong uses gyro ball
Aerodactyl is KOed
Control: tblakey89 3

I was not going to explode when zong could ohko aero with gyro ball. 6-4, all is looking good, and i may even have the chance to explode on another pokemon :D.

Teatoo sent out Forretress
tblakey89 withdraws bronzong and sends out magnezone
Forretress uses toxic spikes
Control: tblakey89 3

I didn't want to waste bronzong on a pokemon that could take the hit, so i switched to magnezone to trap Forretress. I am in a very good position here, it is almost 6-3 now. The toxic spikes don't worry my team at all

Magnezone uses Hidden Power
Forretress faints
Control: tblakey89 3

The score is now 6-3, i may have to switch now, but i still have the advantage when it comes to the score, teatoo's options are running out fast.

Teatoo sends out Lanturn
tblakey89 withdraws magnezone and sends in kingdra
Kingdra is poisoned
Lanturn uses confuse ray
Kingdra is confused
Control: tblakey89 2

I lose a control point due to Kingdras confusion, but i still beleive kingdra is in a safe position to start to dragon dance, and then rest off the damage and poison when the confusion ends, and start a sweep.

Kingdra is confused
Kingdra uses Dragon Dance
Lanturn uses discharge
Kingdra is on 149/277
Control: tblakey89 2

Okay, perhaps i was being over confident thinking kingdra would survive another discharge, i might as well go for an outrage and get rid of lanturn as soon as possible, and forget the idea of a 6-0, lanturn could be a problem to my team.

Kingdra is confused
Kingdra uses outrage
Lanturn is KOed
Kingdra is hurt by poison (81/277)
Control: tblakey89 3

Without lanturn my team should have an easier time winning this game. The confusion is still up, but at least my team should be safer, and it is 6-2, there is nothing for me to worry about.

teatoo sends out Espeon
Kingdra snaps out of confusion
Kingdra uses outrage
Espeon is KOed
Kingdra's outrage is over it is now confused
Kingdra is hurt by poison (47/277)
Control: tblakey89 4

Kingdra may be confused but there is still a chance it could KO the next pokemon, the score is 6-1, it could be a 6-0 if i am lucky

teatoo sends our Swampert
Kingdra is confused
It KOes its self
swampert uses waterfall but there is no target
Control: tblakey89 3

Hmm... swampert could be a big problem to my team, i can't really think of a pokemon that can ohko it, and i am not even sure if either zong or zone's explosion could KO it, i may have to lose another pokemon. Swampert could have taken kingdra's hit, why wasn't it sent out sooner.

tblakey89 sends out Salamence
Salamence's intimidate lowers swampert's attack
Salamence uses outrage
Swampert is in the yellow (45%)
Swampert uses avalanche
Salamence is KOed
Swampert gets leftovers
Control: tblakey89 3

I am still going to win this i think, but doubt has appeared in my mind, how could i be so swampert weak, pert could potentially ohko he rest of my team, and latias has no attacking moves, so is useless.

tblakey89 sends in magnezone
Magnezone explodes
Swampert just hangs on (1%)
Swampert uses earthquake but there is no target
Control: tblakey89 4

Okay my next pokemon Jirachi should be able to finish it off, there is no question when it is in that much in the red.

tblakey89 sends out Jirachi
Jirachi uses Flash Cannon
Swampert is KOed
tblakey89 wins 3-0

That swampert could have been annoying if it was sent out earlier. Anyway i had to add an attacking move to Latias to make it more useful and perhaps do some more testing on shoddy.

I progressed to round 3, where i was knocked out in ONM6, where i would be facing one of
the tournament favourites, Minijinx, the Giant Enemy Crab. It was going to be a tough match, and i had to get ready.

I shall post chapter 3 up tommorow.

Chapter 3: Attack of the Giant Enemy Crab

Round 2 was over, big names like Skynet and Nachos has been knocked out in upsets. Round 3 saw some interesting battles, expecially such battles as Twash vs redterror, PenguinX vs Sharktamer, and Monty123 vs Chained_Teapot.

This was the first battle of the tourny where i was playing on shoddy, this made this warstory a lot easier to write. :p

So i had equalised my previous score in ONM6, i had made it to round 3, and just like in round 3 of ONM6, i had a very tough oppenent, one of the favourites in the tournament. I had just come back from a holiday in Slovenia two days before, and i had a hospital appointment the morning of the battle, but despite all that i was calm and ready for the battle ahead. The previous day i did some warm up games on shoddy, and i felt ready, i was eager to get this match out of the way, win or lose, all i could do was try my best.

My team:
Latias
Bronzong
Kingdra
Tyranitar
Magnezone
???

MJ's Team:
Gliscor
Scizor
Heatran
Salamence
Latias
Lucario

Rules: Evasion Clause, Freeze Clause, Soul Dew Clause, Species Clause

la roux sent out BATBOT (lvl 100 Gliscor ?).
tblakey89 sent out Latias (lvl 100 Latias ?).
la roux switched in CLAWBOT (lvl 100 Scizor ?).
Latias used Reflect.
A barrier was formed!
Control: 0

So the battle began. Latias versus gliscor was not that bad, i was expecting a stealth rock, i deceided to set up a reflect to reduce the damage from a possible u-turn, but i felt like i was in control. But then MJ sent out Scizor. This kind of put me at a disadvantage in that his scizor could either pursuit or u-turn and do a lot of damage.

---
tblakey89 switched in Magnezone (lvl 100 Magnezone).
CLAWBOT used U-turn.
It's not very effective...
Magnezone lost 18% of its health.
la roux switched in BATBOT (lvl 100 Gliscor ?).
Control: MJ 1

I was left with no choice but to switch, and hope the reflect would protect latias from a pursuit, which was what i was expecting. However, MJ probably predicted the switch and wanted to scout or possibly guessed that latias might survive a pursuit if it has reflect up. I sent out Magnezone hoping to trap Scizor, and get an easy KO, but he u-turned away to a gliscor.

---
tblakey89 switched in Latias (lvl 100 Latias ?).
BATBOT used Stealth Rock.
Pointed stones float in the air around the foe's team!
Control: MJ 1

I obviously had to switch away form gliscor, i couldn’t risk losing magnezone to a possible earthquake, and i didn’t know hp ice, so leaving magnzone would have been foolish. I switched to latias in order to continue trying to dual screen up.
---

BATBOT used U-turn.
It's super effective!
Latias lost 17% of its health.
la roux switched in CLAWBOT (lvl 100 Scizor ?).
Latias used Roar.
la roux switched in VOLCANOBOT (lvl 100 Heatran ?).
Control: tblakey89 1

Gliscor u-turns away to scizor as i was predicting, so i chose roar, this gave me the opportunity to get rid of scizor, as well as give me the option to scount MJ’s team. Heatran was then sent out, giving me the opportunity to continue to dual screen.

---
Latias used Light Screen.
A barrier was formed!
VOLCANOBOT used Taunt.
Latias fell for the taunt!
Control: 0

I continued to light screen, but heatran taunts. It means i will have to switch next turn, and MJ knows this.

---
la roux switched in CLAWBOT (lvl 100 Scizor ?).
tblakey89 switched in Kingdra (lvl 100 Kingdra ?).
Pointed stones dug into Kingdra.
Kingdra lost 12% of its health.
Control: MJ 1

I switch to kingdra hoping to start to set up on heatran, but MJ switches to scizor. He is probably hoping to continue to do damage to my team bit by bit using u-turns and stealth rock.

---
Kingdra used Waterfall.
CLAWBOT lost 39% of its health.
CLAWBOT used U-turn.
Kingdra lost 33% of its health.
la roux switched in INTIMIBOT (lvl 100 Salamence ?).
INTIMIBOT's intimidate cut Kingdra's attack!
Control: MJ 1

I am left with no choice but to attack to prevent MJ from scouting my team any more. I stay in and waterfall, he sends in Salamence.

---
tblakey89 switched in Bronzong (lvl 100 Bronzong).
Pointed stones dug into Bronzong.
Bronzong lost 6% of its health.
INTIMIBOT used Draco Meteor.
INTIMIBOT's attack missed!
Bronzong's reflect wore off!
Control: tblakey89 1

I am then forced to switch to bronzong to take either the outrage, or draco meteor headed kingdra’s way. MJ uses draco meteor, but it misses. This probably made little difference though as light screen was up and the fact that Bronzong resists dragon.
---

la roux switched in CLAWBOT (lvl 100 Scizor ?).
Bronzong used Reflect.
A barrier was formed!
Control: tblakey89 1

Reflect went down, so now was the perfect opportunity to set up another layer, the salamence could have used fire blast, but i deceided to stay in, as at the time, i was thinking it could have been speced(looking back, i got lucky, as it was in fact mixed). Scizor was sent out, probably to do more scouting.
---

CLAWBOT used U-turn.
Bronzong lost 24% of its health.
la roux switched in BATBOT (lvl 100 Gliscor ?).
Bronzong used Explosion.
BATBOT lost 102% of its health.
la roux's BATBOT fainted.
tblakey89's Bronzong fainted.
Control: 0

Following what MJ had done earlier with his scizor, i was predicting a u-turn. I deceided to explode, a risky move, but it would at least get me out of this stale mate where my pokemon were slowing receiving damage bit by bit. I was lucky for two reasons, one he sent out gliscor, a pokemon that doesn’t resist explosion, and two, that it KO-ed, just. The score was 5-5.
---

la roux switched in CLAWBOT (lvl 100 Scizor ?).
tblakey89 switched in Magnezone (lvl 100 Magnezone).
Pointed stones dug into Magnezone.
Magnezone lost 6% of its health.
Magnezone used Hidden Power.
It's super effective!
CLAWBOT lost 107% of its health.
la roux's CLAWBOT fainted.
Control: tblakey89 2

As i was hoping, and as MJ had done throughout the rest of the game so far, he sent out scizor for some more u-turning. It was obvious this is what he was going to do, the perfect opportunity to put magnezone to good use. Scizor was trapped and KO-ed, the score was 5-4, the game was in my control.
---

la roux switched in INTIMIBOT (lvl 100 Salamence ?).
INTIMIBOT's intimidate cut Magnezone's attack!
tblakey89 switched in Latias (lvl 100 Latias ?).
Pointed stones dug into Latias.
Latias lost 12% of its health.
INTIMIBOT used Draco Meteor.
It's super effective!
Latias lost 59% of its health.
INTIMIBOT's special attack was harshly lowered.
INTIMIBOT lost 10% of its health.
Latias's light screen wore off!
Control: tblakey89 1

Out comes a salamence, i predicted a fire blast, so i knew it was the perfect opportunity to switch to latias. But MJ outpredicted me, to be honest it was obvious i was going to switch, zone was scarfed, he knew it, hp fire would barely damage mence, i had to switch, and he knew it. I should have worked this out, but fourtunatly thanks to light screen salamence did only 60% damage.
---

Latias used Light Screen.
A barrier was formed!
INTIMIBOT used Draco Meteor.
It's super effective!
Latias lost 29% of its health.
tblakey89's Latias fainted.
INTIMIBOT's special attack was harshly lowered.
INTIMIBOT lost 10% of its health.
Control: tblakey89 1

I lost light screen, i had two options, either KO salamence now, or set up light screen and give another pokemon the chance to set up. That was the aim of the team, but tbh, looking back i should probably have Koed the salamence first and setup the light screen second.
---
tblakey89 switched in Kingdra (lvl 100 Kingdra ?).
Pointed stones dug into Kingdra.
Kingdra lost 12% of its health.
INTIMIBOT used Brick Break.
The wall shattered!
The wall shattered!
Kingdra lost 37% of its health.
INTIMIBOT lost 10% of its health.
Kingdra used Dragon Dance.
Kingdra's attack was raised.
Kingdra's speed was raised.
Control: tblakey89 1

I send in kingdra to use the opportunity of a weakened salamence to give me a shot at setting up. Looking back, the salamence could have known outrage if it was mixmence :s. I get a dragon dance in, but the salamence uses brick break, the bane of a dual screen, but rather brick break than outrage.
---

la roux switched in VOLCANOBOT (lvl 100 Heatran ?).
Kingdra used Rest.
Kingdra fell asleep!
Kingdra's Chesto Berry cured its Sleep!
Kingdra restored 95% of its health.
Control: tblakey89 2

I assumed there was not much that a heatran could do against kingdra, except be fodder while kingdra gets KO-ed by sandstorm. I instead use the opportunity to rest up, and prepae for a sweep with a fully healed kingdra.

---
la roux switched in DRACOBOT (lvl 100 Latias ?).
Kingdra used Waterfall.
It's not very effective...
DRACOBOT lost 33% of its health.
Control: MJ 1

MJ however uses this chance to switch in his latias, i still expect his heatran to stay in, so i use waterfall, doing only a slight amount of damage to his latias.

---

DRACOBOT used Draco Meteor.
It's super effective!
Kingdra lost 148% of its health.
tblakey89's Kingdra fainted.
DRACOBOT's special attack was harshly lowered.
Control: tblakey89 2

After a dragon dance i know kingdra can outspeed latias, unless it has scarf... There are many reasons why a latias can be sent out, one is that it is the revenge killing scarf varient, the other is to bluff it is a scarf one, the final one is to lure an outrage out of kingdra, so that a pokemon that can take it can then have an opportunity to set up. Much to my misfortune, i assumed one of the later two. Kingdra was KOed. The score is now 3-4 to MJ. I was starting to fall behind.
---

tblakey89 switched in Tyranitar (lvl 100 Tyranitar ?).
Tyranitar's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!
A sandstorm brewed!
Pointed stones dug into Tyranitar.
Tyranitar lost 12% of its health.
la roux switched in VOLCANOBOT (lvl 100 Heatran ?).
Tyranitar used Dragon Dance.
Tyranitar's attack was raised.
Tyranitar's speed was raised.
The sandstorm rages.
Control: tblakey89 3

However by losing kingdra, i am now in a perfect opportunity to get a free dragon dance on tyranitar. Hopefully giving me the opportunity for a sweep.
---

la roux switched in INTIMIBOT (lvl 100 Salamence ?)
INTIMIBOT's intimidate cut Tyranitar's attack!
Tyranitar used Stone Edge.
Tyranitar's attack missed!
The sandstorm rages.
INTIMIBOT is buffetted by the sandstorm!
INTIMIBOT lost 6% of its health.
Control: tblakey89 3

He sends out mence, to intimidate me, there is nothing really he can do except intimitade me, looking at the rest of his team. But unfourtunatly hax intervenes and stone edge misses.
---

Tyranitar used Stone Edge.
It's super effective!
INTIMIBOT lost 177% of its health.
la roux's INTIMIBOT fainted.
Tyranitar lost 10% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.
Control: tblakey89 3

But fourtunatly MJ does not switch away, giving me the chance to KO his salamence. The score is 3-3, i am on the sweep, things are looking up for me.
---

DRACOBOT used Trick.
DRACOBOT obtained Life Orb!
Tyranitar obtained Choice Scarf!
Tyranitar used Crunch.
It's super effective!
DRACOBOT lost 98% of its health.
la roux's DRACOBOT fainted.
The sandstorm rages.
Control: tblakey89 2

By looking at tyranitar’s health, i figured that ttar might survive a surf, either way if i stayed in, i figured i had more chance of winning the game, there was the possibilty of latias not knowing surf, or not using surf. And lucky for me this risk paid, off, whether MJ predicted a switch or not, i Koed his latias, and i was in a better position for it. The score was now 3-2 to me, ttar was trapped on the crunch though, and he had a heatran i knew he would send out next.
---

la roux switched in VOLCANOBOT (lvl 100 Heatran ?).
Tyranitar used Crunch.
It's not very effective...
VOLCANOBOT lost 22% of its health.
VOLCANOBOT used Earth Power.
It's super effective!
Tyranitar lost 51% of its health.
VOLCANOBOT lost 10% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.
Control: tblakey89 2

I felt i had no choice but to stay in, and take the damage, whilst trying to do as much damage as possible. I needed my final two with as much health as possible. I felt sacrificing ttar was the right move.

---

Tyranitar used Crunch.
It's not very effective...
VOLCANOBOT lost 21% of its health.
VOLCANOBOT used Earth Power.

Tyranitar lost 53% of its health.
tblakey89's Tyranitar fainted.
VOLCANOBOT lost 10% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.
Control: tblakey89 2

Ttar gets KO-ed by heatran. The score is now 2-2. I have no idea what his last pokemon is, but i know i can at least take down heatran, leaving me in a better postion for his final poke.

---
tblakey89 switched in Magnezone (lvl 100 Magnezone).
Pointed stones dug into Magnezone.
Magnezone lost 6% of its health.
Magnezone used Thunderbolt.
VOLCANOBOT lost 58% of its health.
la roux's VOLCANOBOT fainted.
The sandstorm rages.
Control: tblakey89 3

Magnezone traps heatran and finishes it off with a thunderbolt.

---
la roux switched in DANCEBOT (lvl 100 Lucario ?).
Magnezone used Thunderbolt.
DANCEBOT lost 91% of its health.
DANCEBOT used Close Combat.
It's super effective!
Magnezone lost 151% of its health.
tblakey89's Magnezone fainted.
DANCEBOT's defence was lowered.
DANCEBOT's special defence was lowered.
DANCEBOT lost 10% of its health.
la roux's DANCEBOT fainted.
Control: tblakey89 5

Much to my luck Magnezone and my final pokemon can handle lucario. Magnezone deals 91% damage, putting lucario within KO range of life orb. The final score is 1-0.

tblakey89 wins!

I was incredibly releived to have beaten MJ. I had caused an upset in the tournament, by knocking out one of ONM's best players. Support in ONM was growing for me. I did feel lucky to get through this round though

The quarter finals were soon to begin, my next oppenent would be Maxz, he did beat Nachos in round 2, but i was feeling confident i was going to win, but Maxz is full of surprises...

I thought i lost the video for that match when i transfered from vista to 7, but luckily i remembered i still have it on my vs recorder.

Certainly the best match I've played in a tournament for a very long time. GG Blakey, at least I lost to someone as good as you :D
